WADA responds to Insolvency Review: call for evidence
WADA is calling for a major overhaul of the personal insolvency framework, including the abolition of IVAs, and for the protection of homes and essential assets in a new procedure. Given the economic crisis, we are urging all debt advisers to sign our response and urge Government to act quickly to make these major reforms.
Debt advice agencies demand equal treatment from energy companies
With energy prices rocketing and debts mounting, it is critical that people are able to access debt advice and that energy companies respond to representations made on a debtor’s behalf. But there appears to be a worrying trend for companies to reject financial statements unless these have been prepared by StepChange. WADA calls for debtors to have the right to choose their own debt advice agency.
MaPS responds to WADA call for contract extensions
The Money and Pensions Service has responded positively to WADA’s call for regional contracts to be extended, and confirmed that “from 1 February 2023, we will put in place further grants for our current regional providers whilst we continue to work with them and other stakeholders to shape our longer-term plans.”
